My sweet baby girls nursery has been my favorite project! My budget was tight, but I’m pleased with the end result. See all the details below.
Shakespeare Sign on Door- Gift purchased at Zulily
***TIP*** When you have a decor item you love but it doesn’t fit in the space, hang it on the door! To utilize door space I got a command strip (easily movable and does no damage to door) covered it with a pretty ribbon bow, and strung that ribbon through the hanging mechanism on the back of the sign. Finally I stuck a big glob of sticky tack (that gooey gum like substance found at the craft store) on the bottom of the sign to prevent it from banging and swinging back and forth!
Accent Wall Color: Iced Cherry by Behr
Sheen Rug-Ross $25
White blanket-Target $22
Crib Sheet and Change pad cover in chevron pink and white with gold lining- custom made with Walmart Fabric for $4 per yard. Total for both $15
Crib Skirt custom made with fabric purchased at Hobby Lobby $10
Above the Crib Thick Gold Letters- Hobby Lobby $10 Each
Victorian Shelf below letter “M”- garage sale find $5 painted gold
***TIP***Garage sales, estate sales, KSL, Craigslist, etc. are where I find THE BEST deals. Always view something with the potential in mind. This little shelf was an awful forest green color, but painted gold it adds so much to the simple Monogram I have above her crib.
Mobile is a Natural Tree branch scrubbed clean and shaped. Flowers were custom made with leftover fabric and hot glue. Hanging Butterfly-Micheal’s $3 spray painted gold.
***TIP***Mother nature is the ultimate designer. Anytime you can bring the outdoors in it’s a good thing! This tree branch came from a lovely tree in our neighborhood, the neighbors were doing yard-work and let us take it. It was scrubbed clean (for Daddy who was in the Microbiology part of Med School at the time), and best of all it was FREE!
Dresser Craigslist find $75 painted to match crib in Fashion Grey by Behr -Hardware from Ebay $12 and spray painted gold
***TIP***Shopping (and selling) on the classifieds is an art! Being in a bigger city is def advantageous! Searching uncommon keywords such as “console” “sideboard” “chest of drawers”, and overlooking poor pictures is how I managed to find this beautiful dresser for $75!
***Tip***: if you’re planning on refinishing a dresser to go with your crib grab paint samples from the store and tape them on the crib, this is how I got an almost perfect match! Never rule out Amazon and Ebay when your looking for items, I got my hardware for a steal on Ebay!
Rocking Chair Craigslist find-FREE! cleaned and painted in Fashion Grey by Behr to match other furniture

- White open Frame around Elephant- Ross $9
- “Love” Canvas-TJMaxx $16
- White with gold detail frame and arrow graphic print- Home Goods $10
- Gold Texture Small frame- Ross $6
- White Lamp on dresser- Target $7.50
***TIP***Many of these items I saw when they were full price, or sale price! I used a tactic known as “Sale Stocking” to continually watch these items until they went on clearance, at which point I got them for a steal! The key to this strategy is constantly shopping. I luckily live less than a mile from most of these stores (benefit of living in a big City) and so I was in them 2-3 times per week watching and waiting!
***TIP*** As Emmy grew she starting kicking and playing with the frames, this became a problem. A big glob of $1 sticky tack is now between the wall and all the frames on the bottom so when she tries to move them they don’t budge. Problem solved!
Curtain Rod is a natural tree branch, curtain panels are custom made with burlap ribbon sewn on top to expose natural feature. Fabric Hobby Lobby-$15 per panel
Memory Board custom made with $5 frame from Hobby Lobby, left over fabric, and $7 in burlap ribbon with gold lining from Walmart.
***TIP***Don’t be afraid to DO IT YOURSELF! Many of these projects look intimidating but seriously they couldn’t be easier! I’m working on getting tutorials up for all my projects to prove just how simple they can be. Best of all is the tremendous money saved when doing it yourself!
Laundry Hamper and 3 bins TJ Maxx-Price ranging from $8-$15
Being on a tight budget made this nursery a rewarding challenge. Huge thanks to my amazing, talented, mom who came into town and helped me for a MONTH, including painting and hanging! I enjoyed putting my custom stamp on things with DIY projects. Don’t be afraid to combine styles and add your special touch, I’ve learned that if you stick with things you love it can all come together!
